Why subscribe?
Subscribe here if you think my writing is interesting. My goal is to discuss complex, neglected, impersonal, and challenging topics.
Norabble is a newsletter that investigates the hidden mechanics of our world—specifically economics, global development, and technology. My goal is to decode complex, neglected, and challenging topics not as separate disciplines, but as interconnected systems. I apply logic to social and economic problems to find answers that others miss.
It treats these fields not as separate disciplines, but as interconnected systems. The publication decodes complex topics (like inflation, AI utility, or urban infrastructure) by applying the logic to social and economic problems.
A free subscription provides full access to the newsletter and website, delivered to your mailbox. Never miss an update.
Paid subscriptions support the site's independence. I am also happy to meet with new paid subscribers online to discuss my work or yours.
Who Am I?
The publication is authored by Ryan Baker, an IT professional and software architect, with 30 years of experience, currently working at Amazon Web Services (AWS), advising clients in the financial industry.
Note: This writing represents my own opinions, not that of any current or past employer.
While my professional history explains my expertise in software, cloud computing, and AI, my focus on economics and urban development stems from decades of personal interest and independent study. Mostly this means reading, but I’ve also had the privilege of some personal connections that have deepened those experiences.
Along the way, I’ve picked up other interests, cities and economies being two prominent ones. I’ve also always had a deep interest in a better world and what I could do to make that a reality. Amongst other motivations, combining those is one of the motivations for writing.
What to Expect
Subscribers receive deep-dive essays that blend technical expertise with macro-societal analysis. Key themes include:
The Architecture of Trust: Exploring how trust functions as a scalable technology in both finance and software.
AI Pragmatism: Realistic assessments of Artificial Intelligence that focus on implementation, utility, and infrastructure costs rather than hype.
Systemic Abundance: Arguments for designing economic systems that default to “abundance” rather than scarcity.
